Experience

Nicole M. Downs is a senior associate in the Labor & Employment Law department, concentrating her practice in Workers' Compensation and Subrogation.  She is the lead attorney of the firm's Subrogation Department.  Nicole has extensive experience in litigating complex workers' compensation and subrogation matters.  She also has over seven years of litigation experience specializing in automobile and general liability.  Nicole has trial experience throughout the state and has secured successful results for her clients. She represents various insurance companies, including New Jersey Manufacturers and Encompass, as well as Middlesex County and numerous municipalities throughout the State. 

While in law school, Nicole wrote for the university's law journal and interned for the IRS in Philadelphia, PA.  After law school she served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Eugene J. Codey, Jr., Presiding Judge of the Civil Division, Essex County, NJ (2000-2001). Nicole is a member of the Justice James H. Coleman, Jr., Workers' Compensation American Inn of Court.  The Inn provides valuable continuing legal education and promotes trial skills, professionalism and ethical awareness among the bench and bar.

In 2011 Nicole spoke at both the New Jersey Self-Insurers Association Seminar in Atlantic City and the Workers’ Compensation Centennial Seminar in Freehold. Nicole is a frequent attendee at various professional conferences and seminars, including the New JerseyGovernors Conference for Women, the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce seminars, and both the New Brunswick Bar Association and the Middlesex County Bar Association functions.

Nicole is an active member of the local community, serving on the project playground committee, a non-profit organization that raises money to establish and construct local playgrounds.  Nicole is also a volunteer coach for the local cheerleading and soccer organizations and a member of the PTA.
