Andrea Mackaronis joined the firm as an associate in 2007, and became Partner in 2016 due to her demonstrated success in her specialized area.  Andrea has devoted her practice exclusively to Family Law and related issues of divorce, including child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, prenuptial agreements, and post-judgment issues.  She also handles non-dissolution matters.

She has successfully represented clients in motions, hearings, trials, and mediations awarding custody of minor children, alimony, child support, and name changes for minor children.  She has also successfully represented international clients in their New Jersey divorce litigation.

Andrea practices numerous forms of alternative dispute resolution, including but not limited to mediation, arbitration, and collaborative law. She has mediated small claims matters in the Superior Court of New Jersey - Special Civil Part.  In addition, she is trained in collaborative law and is a member of the Mid-Jersey Collaborative Law Alliance.  Utilizing the collaborative process reduces expense, stress, and turmoil as parties go through their divorce. Meetings are conducted with the entire collaborative team, which allows parties to make great strides and progress towards a resolution. Discovery is streamlined, saving time and resources, and the process follows a “roadmap” which guides the team toward a resolution. Collaborative divorce enables parties to empower themselves to make educated decisions about their settlements in the best interests of their family, with the support of their collaboratively trained attorneys and team of professionals. Perhaps most importantly, the collaborative method creates a paradigm shift in both parties and practitioners, resulting in more satisfied clients and better overall outcomes.

She has also been appointed Guardian ad litem by Family Court judges and been appointed to serve as a Trustee, and also serves as an Early Settlement Panelist in Middlesex County. Finally, Andrea has been appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Rule 1:40 Court Approved Mediator for Economic Mediation, and also works with the Office of Attorney Ethics to review ethical grievances brought against attorneys in the greater Middlesex County area.

Andrea is designated as an AV Preeminent attorney by Martindale Hubbell Peer Review Ratings. This designation is awarded only to attorneys who demonstrate the highest level of professional excellence in general ethical standards and legal ability by their peers in their field of practice.

At the firm, Andrea acts as a supervisor and mentor to summer associates, coordinates the firm associate/partner mentoring program.  She also is a frequent contributor to the firm’s blog.

A lifelong Middlesex County resident, Andrea currently lives in North Brunswick where she has served on the Heritage Day Committee.  She has been an active member of the Tufts Alumni Association, having conducted interviews with interested students.  She was previously appointed by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders to the Middlesex County Commission on the Status of Women.  She has volunteered her time with the Central Jersey Spinal Cord Association (CJSCA). Finally, Andrea is the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Coordinated Family Care (CFC), which is a private non-profit Care Management Organization funded by the NJ Department of Children and Families. CFC provides guidance, options, and assistance to Middlesex County families that care for youth who present with moderate to very high levels of behavioral and/or emotional needs, and/or developmental disabilities. Care Management Organizations are an important part of a state-wide effort to improve New Jersey's coordination of care for youth and their families.

Andrea graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in English and later graduated from Syracuse University College of Law.  Prior to joining Hoagland Longo, Andrea clerked for the Honorable Michael A. Toto, Superior Court Judge from 2006-2007 while he was sitting in the Chancery Division, Family Part.
