Andrea Mackaronis joined the firm as an associate in 2007, and became Partner in 2016 due to her demonstrated success in her specialized area. Andrea has devoted her practice exclusively to Family Law and related issues of divorce, including child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, prenuptial agreements, and post-judgment issues. She also handles non-dissolution matters.
She has successfully represented clients in motions, hearings, trials, and mediations awarding custody of minor children, alimony, child support, and name changes for minor children. She has also successfully represented international clients in their New Jersey divorce litigation.
Andrea practices numerous forms of alternative dispute resolution, including but not limited to mediation, arbitration, and collaborative law. She has mediated small claims matters in the Superior Court of New Jersey - Special Civil Part and is trained in collaborative law. In addition, she serves as President of the New Jersey Council of Collaborative Practice Groups (NJCCPG) and the Mid-Jersey Collaborative Law Alliance (MJCLA). Utilizing the collaborative process reduces expense, stress, and turmoil as parties go through their divorce. Meetings are conducted with the entire collaborative team, which allows parties to make great strides and progress towards a resolution. Discovery is streamlined, saving time and resources, and the process follows a “roadmap” which guides the team toward a resolution. Collaborative divorce enables parties to empower themselves to make educated decisions about their settlements in the best interests of their family, with the support of their collaboratively trained attorneys and team of professionals. Perhaps most importantly, the collaborative method creates a paradigm shift in both parties and practitioners, resulting in more satisfied clients and better overall outcomes.
She has also been appointed Guardian ad litem by Family Court judges and been appointed to serve as a Trustee, and also serves as an Early Settlement Panelist in Middlesex County. Finally, Andrea has been appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Rule 1:40 Court Approved Mediator for Economic Mediation, and also works with the Office of Attorney Ethics to review ethical grievances brought against attorneys in the greater Middlesex County area.
Andrea is designated as an AV Preeminent attorney by Martindale Hubbell Peer Review Ratings. This designation is awarded only to attorneys who demonstrate the highest level of professional excellence in general ethical standards and legal ability by their peers in their field of practice.
At the firm, Andrea acts as a supervisor and mentor to summer associates, coordinates the firm associate/partner mentoring program. She also is a frequent contributor to the firm’s blog.
A lifelong Middlesex County resident, Andrea currently lives in North Brunswick where she has served on the Heritage Day Committee. She has been an active member of the Tufts Alumni Association, having conducted interviews with interested students. She was previously appointed by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders to the Middlesex County Commission on the Status of Women. She has volunteered her time with the Central Jersey Spinal Cord Association (CJSCA). Finally, Andrea is the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Coordinated Family Care (CFC), which is a private non-profit Care Management Organization funded by the NJ Department of Children and Families. CFC provides guidance, options, and assistance to Middlesex County families that care for youth who present with moderate to very high levels of behavioral and/or emotional needs, and/or developmental disabilities. Care Management Organizations are an important part of a state-wide effort to improve New Jersey's coordination of care for youth and their families.
Andrea graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in English and later graduated from Syracuse University College of Law. Prior to joining Hoagland Longo, Andrea clerked for the Honorable Michael A. Toto, Superior Court Judge from 2006-2007 while he was sitting in the Chancery Division, Family Part.

Testimonials for Andrea C. Mackaronis
I hired Andrea to review my Marital Settlement Agreement and finalize the divorce. She helped me negotiate better child support and was there for me when I needed her. Highly recommended!

I have just concluded my divorce business. I inherited Andrea from an attorney I originally hired to handle things. It was quite the gift. I felt comfortable with her from our first conversation as the associate of the main guy. She proved herself to be competent and caring. She was a steadying influence on me when dealing with frustrating events caused by an incredibly frustrating adversary. I am very happy that she became the person in charge. I would and will recommend her to anyone in need of excellent legal services.

Andrea Mackaronis is a highly motivated attorney who is a true professional. She is extremely knowledgeable in Family Law and is thorough in covering every angle in your case. She will take the time to investigate to gather all the information and case history to win your case. In my particular case she found a needle in a haystack. Out of thousands of emails, Andrea found one line in an email from my ex-husband to a friend discussing a hidden pension unbeknownst to me during our divorce 10 years prior as we were in litigation for alimony/child support reduction. I believe that no other lawyer would have taken the time to read each of the thousands of emails, but she was relentless in her effort to dig up facts. Because of her hard dedicated work ethic, I was awarded half of my ex-husbands pension 10 years after our divorce. Not only is she aggressive in the courtroom, she is compassionate to your situation and your every need. She is always available to take your phone calls and answer all questions you may have, along with explaining all of your rights in detail. I would recommend her to anyone needing legal advice and representation. She is an attorney you can trust and rely on. You will never be left in limbo where you stand in your case or the status of your case. She definitely should be rated among America’s Top Attorneys. I will never use another attorney and have found a friend and Legal Advisor for life.

Andrea was a perfect match for my needs as a lawyer. She knew how to navigate the tough line of being my lawyer and being my support system, with a special flair for sensitivity and no-nonsense toughness when I needed her to be, especially when it came to representing my position both on papers and in court before the judge. She stood up for me when I was unable to and took very good care of me when I needed it. I was very lucky to have her as my attorney.
