Michael N. Colacci

Michael N. Colacci joined Hoagland Longo in 2018 as an associate focusing his practice on the representation of public entities and officials in civil rights claims arising under the Federal Civil Rights Act as well as tort claims pursuant to the New Jersey Tort Claims Act. Michael defends public entities, public employees, and municipalities in the litigation of matters involving claims including excessive force, wrongful arrest, malicious prosecution, and failure to provide medical attention. Additionally, Michael represents public and private employers and employees in a wide array of employment law claims including harassment, hostile work environment, whistleblower protection, breach of contract, and discrimination on the basis of sex, disability, age, pregnancy, religion, national origin, and race.
Michael received his Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration with a focus in Management and Marketing from Pennsylvania State University and graduated from Rutgers Law School. As a law student, Michael was an Associate New Developments Editor for the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion. He was also a participant in the Honorable James Hunter III Moot Court Program.
Following law school, Michael served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Lisa Miralles Walsh, J.S.C. in the Union County Superior Court of New Jersey, Criminal Division. In that position, Michael gained a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the criminal field, working closely with Judge Walsh and advising her on a broad range of criminal issues related to motions to suppress, motions to dismiss, and jury instructions. Before joining Hoagland Longo, Michael practiced at a firm in Springfield, litigating a broad range of general liability insurance defense matters in New Jersey. Michael is admitted to the bar in New Jersey, the United States District Court of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Michael is certified by the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts as a Civil Mediator and mediated numerous Special Civil/Small Claims and Landlord/Tenant cases. He is also an active member of the Union County Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association.
