On April 23rd, Lawrence P. Powers presented a two-hour Engineering Ethics course on behalf of the NJSPE. The presentation encompassed New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York Code of Ethics and corollary state administrative code provisions, including why they exist and how they were developed. During his presentation, Larry also covered a review of the National Society of Professional Engineers Code of Ethics with examples of common ethics rules, illustrative case studies to consider, with emphasis on the similarities and difference between governmental and professional society sanctions; practical reasons for ethical practice, how unethical practice can present professional liability, legal, licensure, moral and public health, safety and welfare issues. 

Larry is the Co-Chair of Hoagland Longo’s Construction Litigation Department and has served as General Counsel to AIA-New Jersey, the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers and NJASLA for twenty-five years. Larry has also been recognized as the 2018 “Lawyer of the Year” in the Construction Litigation category by Best Lawyers for the Woodbridge, NJ Metropolitan area, and is noted for his experience as a construction arbitrator and mediator.
