On November 6, Andrew J. Carlowicz, Jr., Co-Chair of the firm’s Construction Law Department, spoke at a meeting of the American Society of Civil Engineers on the specific laws that govern (and limit) the site safety responsibilities of on-site engineers, and also, delineate the risk management steps an engineering firm can take to decrease the chance of lawsuits brought against the firm for these types of claims.  He discussed the potential duties owed to construction site workers by the engineers, the impact of the Engineer’s Site Safety Statute, the Carvalho and Pfenninger cases and many other pertinent points on this topic.
