On November 11-12th, Joseph Marabondo served as a judge at the inaugural Scarlett Knight Mock Trial Invitational, hosted by Rutgers University Mock Trial Association. This event was a two-day tournament consisting of mock trial teams from colleges and universities across the country, including Ivy League schools such as Yale and Princeton. Competitors faced a 4-round tournament during which teams argued a fictional criminal case pattern, representing both the prosecution and the defense. Teams were then judged by attorneys and judges who scored the teams based on their preparation, presentation, and trial advocacy skills.
The Rutgers University Trial Association is open to all students, regardless of major, in hopes of giving students hands-on trial experience and an opportunity to strengthen their public speaking and leadership skills. As a member of Hoagland Longo's General Liability Department, Joseph was happy to share his experience and insight with future leaders of the legal practice.
