Experience

Nora J. Grimbergen is a Partner in the Environmental & Toxic Tort Department and is AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell®.  She concentrates her practice in the defense of mass tort and individual product liability cases primarily involving asbestos and other toxic substances such as silica. She has also litigated individual asbestos cases in New Jersey for manufacturers of asbestos containing friction products, talc, welding consumables and heating equipment. Her experience runs the gamut, including trial preparation, settlement negotiations, and litigation strategy. Many of these matters involved wrongful death claims with significant medical and scientific issues relating to pulmonology, pathology, epidemiology, industrial hygiene, and mineralogy. Most recently she was second chair at a substantial trial in which she defended against a suit alleging exposure to asbestos through the handling of brakes and clutches at an automotive parts warehouse.

Nora has participated in a "joint medical counsel" capacity in representing manufacturers, suppliers and contractors specifically in regard to the medical aspects of the cases. She continues to use her expertise in this area in the firm's Environmental National Coordinating Counsel practice assisting in the coordination of medical and liability experts with local counsel throughout the United States.

Previously a team leader of the environmental group, Nora is now responsible for associate training where she ensures all new and existing associates are educated on all aspects of environmental & toxic tort matters, new legislation and court rulings.

Nora joined Hoagland Longo in 2002, after previously spending six years litigating products liability and toxic tort matters.
